If passed the Lodging Tax Ordinance specifies that a Lodging Tax Committee will be established and will be responsible for distributing the funds to projects that promote and encourage tourism in Purcell.

The makeup of the committee is intended to enable community and business stake holders and other interested parties to have a voice at the decision table of spending the tourism funds.

The seven member committee membership includes:

City Manager, City Council Person, Parks and Recreation Employee, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, a retail business representative appointed by the Chamber of Commerce, a lodging business representative appointed by the Chamber of Commerce and a Citizen at large appointed by the City Council.

Initially the committee will work to create guidelines and procedures as to how they will operate as a committee, how entities will request funds from the committee, establish a budget and other house- keeping duties.

Ultimately each of these members will represent varied interests of our community and will be tasked with the responsibility of collectively making the best use of the tax funds that encourage and promote tourism in Purcell.

The possibility of an exciting future for Purcell is on the horizon.
